VOTE YES FOR MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES
IN SANGAMON COUNTY
On March 17, 2026, Sangamon County voters approved the creation of a Mental Health Board, marking a major step forward in expanding access to mental health and addiction services.
We are grateful to the voters, community leaders, and organizations who supported this effort and helped make this possible. This outcome reflects a shared commitment to strengthening care, improving access, and supporting those in need across our community.
Why This Matters
More Care, Close to Home
Thousands of Sangamon County residents face untreated mental illness or substance-use disorders, often waiting weeks or months for appointments. A Mental Health Board expands local capacity and connects people to care sooner.
A Mental Health Board ensures funding decisions are made by local residents who understand Sangamon County’s needs — not state agencies or outside providers.
Local Oversight
The 0.50% sales tax — 5¢ per $10 purchase — generates about $14.7 million a year for crisis response, case management, housing support, culturally responsive programs, and other local services. Groceries and prescriptions will not be taxed. Every dollar raised stays in Sangamon County to support local mental health services.
